Tumor Markers

Tumor markers are a variety of substances that can be found in blood, urine, the cancer itself or other tissue when cancer is present in the body. Most tumor markers are proteins which derive from the cancer cells or they are generated in response to the disease. Some tumor markers are specific for a single type of cancer, while others can be found in many types of cancer. Products in this chapter are for routine diagnostics, clinical research and therapy follow up.
