HIV-1 is the retrovirus responsible for AIDS. HIV-1 p24 is a capsid protein constituting the core of HIV-1. HIV-1 p24 protein is detectable from the early days of HIV-1 infection. HIV-1 p24 has been measured as a marker of posttreatment pathologic condition to know the quantity of HI-virus in blood.
