Angiopoietin-like proteins (ANGPTLs) are secreted proteins, which are similar in structure to angiopoietin, which itself is an angiogenesis factor, and so far 7 ANGPTLs have been identified. ANGPTL2 has been found to affect vascular cells and monocytes. Furthermore, it has also been shown that ANGPTL3 and ANGPTL4 play important roles in lipid metabolism and that ANGPTL6 (AGF (Angiopoietin-like growth factor)) plays a role in energy metabolism. These various biological effects of the ANGPTL family are attracting attention as new targets for intervention in lifestyle-related diseases such as metabolic syndrome or cancer. It ahs been reported that high levels of ANGPTL2 in blood can be found in individuals who suffer from adiposity, strong insulin resistance, diabetes and arteriosclerosis.
This kit is a quantitative ELISA kit which can measure ANGPTL2 concentration in human serum, plasma or cell culture supernatant.
