This kit can detect human Aβ (N3pE-40). The plaques which appear in the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients are mostly constituted by the Amyloid-β protein (Aβ). In the 'core' of these plaques the main isoform to be detected are the so-called pyroGlu-variants (Amyoid-beta N3pE-40/42). The pyroGlu-variants are highly stable isoforms that cannot be further degraded by other proteases and will almost immediately start forming oligomeric structures.
